Director of Engineering
Scott Baesler graduated from Transylvania University with a Bachelors of Science in Biology and then finished at the University of Kentucky with a Bachelors of Science in Metallurgical Engineering. He is currently a licensed professional engineer. His experience includes 27 years in the food, beverage and chemical industry. Scott has designed and constructed process & packaging plants all over the United States, Mexico and South America. He has been working with the Cannabis and Hemp process and products since 2014.
Fritts graduated from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado with a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Studies and a focus in organic agriculture. During his time in Colorado, Fritts started Cannatrait and began breeding hemp genetics. After he found the desired variety, Seagull, he caught the attention of the lead grower at “The Peaceful Choice”, a medical and recreational marijuana facility in Colorado, and started an apprenciceship under them. During this time, he developed the growing protocols for Cannatrait, created a network in the rapidly growing cannabis community, and continued data collection on Cannatrait’s genetic line. Prior to moving back to Kentucky in January of 2019, Fritts completed a research study in Tanzania that identified the relationship between organic agriculture and intergenerational knowledge. Since then he has been engaged in all day-to-day operations of Cannatrait. Most importantly, Fritts navigated Cannatrait to achieve USDA organic certification.
Lucas Gilbert graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Medical Biotechnology through the Department of Agriculture. During undergraduate study, Lucas held numerous leadership positions in different organizations, attended multiple leadership summits and conferences, and performed research in the Combs cancer building studying a novel gene that is only expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma. After graduation, Lucas was a part of a cardiovascular research laboratory at the University of Kentucky that distinguished the correlation between stress and metabolic cardiovascular deficiencies in female mice. Lucas has been the Lab Manager at Cannatrait for 2 years, consistently developing protocol and keeping processing operations fluid using his extensive medical laboratory experience to create high-quality extracts. Lucas’ persistence and dedication to Cannatrait has yielded numerous standard operation procedures that have been developed in-house, product formulations of both organic and conventional products for consumer markets, and a thorough understanding of the ever-changing landscape of the hemp industry. He has developed procedures in his tenure for Cannatrait for pharma-grade isolate, high quality Crude and Distillate, H2O soluble formulations, numerous retail product formulations and recipes, and has built a network of contacts and peers in this industry in the United States.
Jordan Holcomb graduated from Georgetown College in 2017 with a Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry. While at Georgetown College, she worked at University of Kentucky conducting research in RNA and cell culture. Through this research she gained experience working on her own projects and in a sterile lab environment. A year after she graduated college, she started working for a very large hemp processing company, Elemental Processing. There, she worked on wiped-film machines creating distillate from crude material. She helped complete standard operating procedures for each part of their large-scale process. She also helped create the track and trace program and logging program for the large amount of material being processed. Using these skills, she has become a part of the Cannatrait family. She now distills crude material into distillate each day, and track materials through the extraction and distillation processes. Lastly, she has been learning to formulate and create customer products for consumer sales. With these skills, Jordan is an integral part of the Cannatrait lab team.
Dallas Lockridge is a student at the University of Kentucky who is pursuing a degree in Agroeconomics. He has been with Cannatrait for one year, running the base extractions that have kept the processes flowing and solvent recoveries efficient. Over the course of his tenure, he has made improvements and alterations to the base machines to increase efficiency under oversight of management and has performed ethanol extraction down to a strict routine that is not easily replicable.
Tammye Gilbert attended Eastern Kentucky University and worked as a Paralegal for several years before deciding to stay home with her three little ones. She owned and operated an Indoor Sports Facility in Richmond, Kentucky for 11 years. She’s a part-time yoga teacher and teaches when she has free time. Tammye joined the Cannatrait Team in 2018. She began selling products, setting up retail displays for vendors and really enjoys being a supportive member of the Retail/ Sales team. Her favorite part of the job is connecting with people using and enjoying the products the lab team creates.
